I was recently visiting my mum and as she was moving house had collected a big box of the crap that had accumulated in my bedroom over the years. There was some genuine junk in there and a couple of football medals that I’d one for ‘most improved player’ or something equally patronising. I also found my signed photo from Ozzie Ardilles – I’m keeping that one. But best of all, I found my collection of City programmes from over the years. There was my first City match sat in the home end (my first ever City match at Maine Road was sat in the away end as they demolished Swindon Town 3-0. Alas, I don’t have the programme from that one), the last ever Manchester Derby at Maine Rod and the last ever game at Maine Road.
But there was also a selection of programmes my Dad had given me from the 60′s and as it’s international week and City news is a bit thin on the ground, I thought I’d upload photos of each page from one of these. So here we go, hope you enjoy the nostalgia – if there is an appetite for it I have several more of these 60′s programmes that I’d be happy to share. Click on each image to enlarge to it’s maximum if you want to read the pages in full.
Front Cover
This programme is a home game against Crystal Palace on Good Friday at 3pm (I don’t there are any Good Friday fixtures these days are there?) The programme cost sixpence and the cover proudly boasts of the covered accommodation for 50’000
Pages 2 + 3
It seems that fixture congestion was an issue even back in 1965! Also note the discussion around the disappointment of Maine Road not be chosen as a World Cup venue for the following year.
Pages 4 + 5
Not much of football interest on these pages but a cracking raincoat advert
Pages 6 + 7
Including a pretty strange advert for steel (not something your average football fan woud buy I wouldn’t think), another prize draw and an update on City teams results across the divisions
Pages 8 + 9
The teams for the day are laid out and I have to confess I recognise only one of the name’s in the City teamsheet. The best part for me is the Referee’s name – Mr Fussey!
Pages 10 + 11
A bit more background info about the Palace team
Pages 12 + 13
Yet more information about Crystal Palace and a quiz – entirely about Crystal Palace.
Pages 14 + 15
The standard results grid, the answers to the quiz and a few stats on appearances and goalscorers

A Man City fan since the age of 14 and lover of both watching and playing football football since I can remember, I've spent a decade and a half watching City enthrall, excite and disappoint me in equal measures.
